PARA 1
"The decline of his fortunes, then?"
“ђe dǐklyn ov hiz fōcɣnz, ђxn?”
PARA 1
"The decline of his fortunes, then?" |
— Et le déclin de sa fortune ? |
-¿Y su declive económico? |
»Nun, dann der Rückgang seiner Vermögensverhältnisse?« |
PARA 2
"This hat is three years old. These flat brims curled at the edge came in then. It is a hat of the very best quality. Look at the band of ribbed silk and the excellent lining. If this man could afford to buy so expensive a hat three years ago, and has had no hat since, then he has assuredly gone down in the world."
“ђis hat iz ħrɜ чerz owld. ђɜz flat brimz kerld at ђɜ -ч- xj kqm in ђen. it iz a hat ov ђe vxrɜ bxst kwoletɜ. luk at ђe band ov ribd silk and ђɜ -ч- xkselent lyning. if ђis man kud afōd tɣ by sø -w- xkspxnsiv a hat ħrɜ чerz agø, and haz had nø hat sins, ђxn hɜ haz aβōredlɜ gon dөn in ђe wild(werld).”
PARA 2
"This hat is three years old. These flat brims curled at the edge came in then. It is a hat of the very best quality. Look at the band of ribbed silk and the excellent lining. If this man could afford to buy so expensive a hat three years ago, and has had no hat since, then he has assuredly gone down in the world." |
PARA 3
"Well, that is clear enough, certainly. But how about the foresight and the moral retrogression?"
“wal, ђat iz klɜчe -r- ǐnuf, sertenlɜ. but hө -w- abөt ђe fōsyt and ђe morul rxtrøgrxβen?”
PARA 3
"Well, that is clear enough, certainly. But how about the foresight and the moral retrogression?" |
PARA 4
Sherlock Holmes laughed. "Here is the foresight," said he putting his finger upon the little disc and loop of the hat-securer. "They are never sold upon hats. If this man ordered one, it is a sign of a certain amount of foresight, since he went out of his way to take this precaution against the wind. But since we see that he has broken the elastic and has not troubled to replace it, it is obvious that he has less foresight now than formerly, which is a distinct proof of a weakening nature. On the other hand, he has endeavoured to conceal some of these stains upon the felt by daubing them with ink, which is a sign that he has not entirely lost his self-respect."
βerlok hømz lʀft. “hɜчe -r- iz ђe fōsyt,” sxd hɜ, puting hiz finge upon ђe litul disk and lɣp ov ђe hat sekчōre. “ђq -ч- ʀ nxve sowld upon hats. if ђis man ōded won, it iz a syn ov a serten amөnt ov fōsyt, sins hɜ wxnt өt ov hiz wq tɣ tqk ђis prǐkōβen agqnst ђe wind. but sins wɜ sɜ ђat hɜ haz brøken ђɜ -ч- ǐlastik and haz not trubuld tɣ rǐplqs it, it iz obvɜчes ђat hɜ haz lxs fōsyt nө ђxn fōmelɜ, wic iz a distinkt prɣf ov a wɜkening nqce. on ђɜ -ч- uђe hand, hɜ haz xndxved(indxved) tɣ kensɜчul sum ov ђɜz stqnz upon ђe falt by dōbing ђem wiђ ink, wic iz a syn ђat hɜ haz not intyчelɜ lost hiz salf rǐspxkt.”

On the other hand, he has endeavoured to conceal some of these stains upon the felt by daubing them with ink, which is a sign that he has not entirely lost his self-respect." |
Sherlock Holmes sourit.
PARA 5
"Your reasoning is certainly plausible."
“чō rɜzening iz sertenlɜ plōsebul.”
PARA 5
"Your reasoning is certainly plausible." |
— Votre raisonnement est fort juste. |
-Desde luego, es un razonamiento plausible. |
»Dagegen läßt sich freilich nichts einwenden.« |
PARA 6
"The further points, that he is middle-aged, that his hair is grizzled, that it has been recently cut, and that he uses lime-cream, are all to be gathered from a close examination of the lower part of the lining. The lens discloses a large number of hair ends, clean cut by the scissors of the barber. They all appear to be adhesive, and there is a distinct odour of lime-cream.
“ђe ferђe pӧnts, ђat hɜ -ч- iz midul qjd, ђat hiz hӓ -r- iz grizuld, ђat it haz bɜn rɜsentlɜ kut, and ђat hɜ чɣziz lym krɜm, ʀ -r- ōl tɣ bɜ gaђed from a kløs xgzaminqβen ov ђe løwe pʀt ov ђe lyning. ђe lxnz diskløziz a lʀj numbe -r- ov hӓ -r- xndz, klɜn kut by sizez ov ђe bʀbe. ђq -ч- ōl apɜчe tɣ bɜ -ч- adɜsiv, and ђӓ -r- iz a distinkt øde -r- ov lym krɜm.
PARA 7
This dust, you will observe, is not the gritty, gray dust of the street but the fluffy brown dust of the house, showing that it has been hung up indoors most of the time, while the marks of moisture upon the inside are proof positive that the wearer perspired very freely, and could therefore, hardly be in the best of training."
ђis dust, чɣ wil obzerv, iz not ђe gritɜ, grq dust ov ђe strɜt but ђe flufɜ brөn dust ov ђe hөs, βøwing ђat it haz bɜn hung up indōz møst ov ђe tym, wyчul ђe mʀks ov mӧsce upon ђɜ -ч- insyd ʀ prɣf pozitiv(pozǐtiv) ђat ђe wӓre pespyчed vxrɜ frɜlɜ, and kud ђӓfō, hʀdlɜ bɜ -ч- in ђe bxst ov trqning.”
PARA 7 (speech continued)
This dust, you will observe, is not the gritty, gray dust of the street but the fluffy brown dust of the house, showing that it has been hung up indoors most of the time, while the marks of moisture upon the inside are proof positive that the wearer perspired very freely, and could therefore, hardly be in the best of training." |
|
PARA 8
"But his wife -- you said that she had ceased to love him."
“but hiz wyf -- чɣ sxd ђat βɜ had (βɜ-ч-ad) sɜzd tɣ luv him.”
PARA 8
"But his wife -- you said that she had ceased to love him." |
PARA 9
"This hat has not been brushed for weeks. When I see you, my dear Watson, with a week's accumulation of dust upon your hat, and when your wife allows you to go out in such a state, I shall fear that you also have been unfortunate enough to lose your wife's affection."
“ђis hat haz not bɜn bruβt fō wɜks. wxn y sɜ чɣ, my dɜчe wotsen, wiђ a wɜks akчɣmчelqβen(akчɣmчɣlqβen) ov dust upon чō hat, and wxn чō wyf alөz чɣ tɣ gø -w- өt in suc a stqt, y βal fɜчe ђat чɣ -w- ōlsø hav bɜn unfōcɣnet ǐnuf tɣ lɣz чō wyfs afxkβen.”
PARA 9
"This hat has not been brushed for weeks. When I see you, my dear Watson, with a week's accumulation of dust upon your hat, and when your wife allows you to go out in such a state, I shall fear that you also have been unfortunate enough to lose your wife's affection." |
PARA 10
"But he might be a bachelor."
but hɜ myt bɜ -ч- a bacele.”
PARA 10
"But he might be a bachelor." |
— Votre homme est peut-être célibataire ? |
-Pero podría tratarse de un soltero. |
»Aber er konnte doch auch Junggeselle sein.« |
PARA 11
"Nay, he was bringing home the goose as a peace-offering to his wife. Remember the card upon the bird's leg."
“nq, hɜ woz bringing høm ђe gɣs az a pɜs ofering(ofring) tɣ hiz wyf. rǐmxmbe ђe kʀd upon ђe berdz lxg.”
PARA 11
"Nay, he was bringing home the goose as a peace-offering to his wife. Remember the card upon the bird's leg." |
PARA 12
"You have an answer to everything. But how on earth do you deduce that the gas is not laid on in his house?"
“чɣ hav an anse tɣ -w- xvrɜ ħink. but hө -w- on erħ dɣ чɣ dǐjɣs ђat ђe gas iz not lqd on in hiz hөs?”
PARA 12
"You have an answer to everything. But how on earth do you deduce that the gas is not laid on in his house?" |
PARA 13
"One tallow stain, or even two, might come by chance; but when I see no less than five, I think that there can be little doubt that the individual must be brought into frequent contact with burning tallow -- walks upstairs at night probably with his hat in one hand and a guttering candle in the other. Anyhow, he never got tallow-stains from a gasjet. Are you satisfied?"
“won talø stqn, ō -r- ɜven tɣ, myt kum by cans: but wxn y sɜ nø lxs ђxn fyv, y ħink ђat ђӓ kan bɜ litul dөt ђat ђɜ -ч- indǐvijɣwul must bɜ brōt intɣ frɜkwent kontakt wiђ berning talø -- wōks upstӓz at nyt, probeblɜ wiђ hiz hat in won hand and a gutering kandul in ђɜ -ч- uђe. xnǐhө, hɜ nxve got talø stqnz from a gas jxt. ʀ чɣ satisfyd?”
Are you satisfied?" |
